Adelaide Shwetambar Jain Sangh (ASJS) established in 2009, is an assemblage of Jain families and individuals. Although the commencement was with meagre 8 families, as of July 2016 the sangh boasts of 58 member families. As the name suggests, the members of the sangh are the followers of the Shwetambar sect of Jainism, however is not restricted to it. Associations of the exponents of other sects of Jainism are an integral part of the sangh.
Since its inception members congregate routinely to perform various religious activities such as Pathshala, Mahaveer Janm Vanchan, Samvatsari Pratikaman, Sports Day and Sanatra Pooja (ad hoc basis). Pre and post prayushan activities are also orchestrated including but not limited to cultural program, Tapasvi Bahuman and Swamivatsalya.
Every year many jain families immigrate to Adelaide, Australia. We try to contact and welcome them to our sangh thereby making them a part of our big family
Adelaide Shwetambar Jain Sangh was incorporated in 2015. It is currently governed as per the legislations of an Australian incorporated association and the constitution of ASJS. The management committee generally decides the flow of events. Suggestions regarding improving, different ways of promoting our sangh and propagating Jainism are always encouraged by the committee, which are implemented on the basis of their merits.
